Research & The Fire Sector

The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) is committed to a partnership with the research community to bring an evidenced-based practice.

In 2017, we asked the Federal Government to commit $50 million a year to a fire research fund.

We have also launched two initiatives:

  1. The Fire Research Roster (FR2). The FR2 is a CAFC initiative to connect the research community with our members. The CAFC has developed a databased, engaged researchers to include the information in the database and then made the database available to our members.
  2.  The National Fire Incident Database (NFID). The NFID links fire data with other relevant datasets, and will initiate the creation of new evidence-based research related to fire, public safety, and security.
