Presenter:

Ross Dunsmore, Dunsmore Law

Ross Dunsmore has been practicing Fire Department law for more than 30 years. He has represented many Fire Departments and has been a regular speaker at the Ontario Fire College for many years. A number of his clients have 24 hour shift trials and some still do not because they remain wary of cost increases and services reductions. He has extensive interest arbitration experience on the subject, particularly in Central York.

Webinar Synopsis:

In Ontario, many fire departments are in the midst of extended trials of the 24 hour shift. All of the trials involve the collection and analysis of work related data. This information is supposed to be analyzed by the a joint committee to assist in determining if the shift is achieving what was promised. Basically, this new way of working was not to increase the cost of operating the fire service or reduce the quality and level of service provided previously. Based on the anslysis, the parties to each trial must decide whether or not to terminate the trial or extend it. This presentation was address what we may expext.
